Money-Saving Water Tips

Water-Saving TipsA leaky faucet or a spigot that isn’t completely turned off may be seen to some merely as “something around the house.” It can be a common thing that eventually could lead to a very small rise in your water bill – a few pennies per month at the most. It’s been noted by experts that one drip of water can lead to more than 1,500 gallons accumulated in a year, and those gallons can add up to significant dollars that could be saved. Our Lewisville TX plumbers want to offer three basic tips that will help you trim your water costs:

  • Showers over baths: A bath not only uses more water overall but also more hot water. You can use roughly 8-10 gallons in a shower that lasts five minutes, anywhere from 10-20 gallons fewer than using a bath in the same allotted time.
  • Go low-flow: The installation of low-flow toilets, faucets and shower heads can help lower your water bill as much as 30 percent each month – and possibly more. Low-flow toilets alone can save roughly five gallons of water per flush.
  • Brush responsibly: While brushing your teeth, turn the water off as you brush. The same be said about shaving. This little bit of water saved can add up in the long run.

These tips, and many others, can help put extra money in your pocket each month, and that money can add up as the year progresses. Contact our Lewisville plumbing company for information, or visit us online.
